Zhou Cheng, the technical director of the project and a professor at the National Digital Construction Technology Innovation Center of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, said that the research and development of the unmanned bulldozer started in early 2019. The research team conducted system tests in the field more than ten degrees below zero in winter, and finally realized the functional integration of the unmanned bulldozer, such as pushing, shoveling, leveling, transportation and integration.

In the opinion of Professor Yang Guangyou, School of Mechanical Engineering, Hubei University of Technology, it is only a matter of time before unmanned bulldozers replace manned bulldozers. Zhang Hong, a professor level senior engineer of CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd., believes that unmanned bulldozers are a mainstream trend in the development of construction machinery in the future.
As one of the top 50 global construction machinery manufacturers, Shantui has an annual production capacity of 10000 bulldozers. Jiang Yutian, president of Shantui Intelligent Construction Research Institute, said that Shantui would timely introduce unmanned bulldozers to the market according to its technical maturity.
New favorite in mining area — driverless mining truck
Previously, the first 290 ton 930E unmanned mining truck in China, which was jointly reformed by Aerospace Heavy Industry and Zhuneng Group Heidaigou Open pit Coal Mine, affiliated to Aerospace Sanjiang, operated continuously with four manned mining trucks, one 395 electric shovel and one bulldozer in Heidaigou Open pit Coal Mine. In June 2020, the truck will complete the line control transformation of the whole vehicle, the installation of 4D optical field equipment and laser radar and other vehicle sensing systems, the collection and production of work area maps, the test of driverless trucks in closed sites, the collaborative operation of driverless trucks and shovel and other auxiliary equipment, and the intelligent dispatching and debugging.

After the completion of the project, Zhungeer mining area will become the largest unmanned transportation open pit mine in the world, as well as the intelligent mine with the largest number, brands and models of unmanned mining trucks in the world, which will effectively improve the safety and production efficiency of mine operations.
