The Tukun Desert Highway is an important part of the highway network in Xinjiang and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. The total length of the highway is 276km, and it crosses the western edge of the Taklimakan Desert from north to south. It is not only the trunk road between Tumushuke City of the Third Division and Kunyu City of the Fourteenth Division, but also an important trunk road in the reclamation area in the “Fourteenth Five Year Plan” comprehensive transportation development plan of Xinjiang Corps. After the completion of the project, the distance from Tumushuke City to Kunyu City will be shortened from about 600 km to about 276 km, and a new channel will be added to the northern and southern Xinjiang separated by desert.
